Public and private schools across the DMV rebook us because students get the production they saw online and administrators get a vendor who follows the rules, signs the paperwork and keeps the content clean.
Radio and custom edits only, with a song-request policy agreed with your student activities office in advance.
Production that photographs well
Intelligent lighting, haze where allowed, and a DJ facade that makes the gym or ballroom feel like a venue.
School-ready paperwork
W-9s, insurance certificates, purchase orders and background-checked staff.
DJs who work schools week in and week out
Epic Events
School events are a core part of what our DJs do, not a sideline. Noel Sonkwa is equally at home behind the decks or on the mic and is a crowd favorite for school events, corporate parties and social celebrations. John Carmichael's musical range makes him a go to across every event type, with a deep library and sharp ears for what a crowd wants, keeping the floor packed from the first song to the last.
That same roster covers proms, homecomings, graduation parties and school fundraisers across Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia.
Add the pieces that make the night feel like an event
Epic Events
Photo booths are a natural fit for school nights. Instant prints become keepsakes students actually take home, backdrops, props and photo templates can be tailored to the theme, and our team handles all setup and operation so staff and chaperones can focus on the students.
Dance floor lighting turns a gym or ballroom into a real dance floor with dynamic, colorful lighting that draws students in, and uplighting can carry the school colors or the theme through the whole room.

How the music stays clean without going flat
Solender Events
A clean set does not mean stripping out everything current. Most mainstream pop, hip-hop and dance music has an official clean or radio edit, and our library makes those edits the default. Where even the clean version carries content a school would flag, we swap in an instrumental or another edit, and we keep a pre-approved backup list so nobody is guessing live.
Profanity is the easy part to catch. Subject matter is harder, so our DJs listen past the edit and judge what fits the age group. That is why we ask for grade levels in advance: what suits a junior prom may not be right for a fifth grade end-of-year dance, even when both are technically clean.
The screening happens before the event, not during it. We keep a standing library of pre-screened edits organized by grade band, and when a new hit starts trending mid-year we screen it ahead of your dance.

What to send your DJ before the dance
Solender Events
Every school and district has slightly different standards, so we ask before the event rather than find out during it. The conversation works best with the same staff member who will be in the room that night.
Many high schools bring a student government or dance committee into the planning. We take their song lists and themes seriously, apply the same screening to every request, and keep students and administrators in one planning conversation.
Grade levels and rough age range
Any school or district content policy, in writing

Add to the dance
The booths, lighting and effects schools book alongside the DJ, set up and run by our staff.
We used Epic for a DJ and photobook for our 5th grade promotion ceremony at school. They were so easy to work with, showed up on-time and kept the party running smoothly. They will be my go to going forward for any party planning needs.

Epic Events was amazing (again) as the Entertainment of our school dance! Super communicative the entire planning process and day of the dance. DJ John was SO FUN- the kids had an absolute blast (and the parents too!) he even brought swag favors to pass out- above and beyond!

DJ Ayo was so great at our highschool homecoming! He really brought the energy and even worked in a student performance which our kids really appreciated! Brilliant DJ, super professional, and incredibly talented. We also thank him for being able to accommodate us on such short notice!!!

As someone who works with middle schoolers every day, I know they are a hard group to please. Steve was very good at working with the kids, but also with honoring the teachers' wishes as well. We have worked with him for a few years now and I will continue to do so!

Frequently asked
Can students request songs?
Yes, through a moderated request system your staff can approve. Nothing plays that has not cleared your content rules.
Do you work with purchase orders?
We do. Most DMV school systems book us on a PO with net terms.
Can you handle a gym that size?
Yes. We deploy line arrays or distributed systems so the far corners get the same sound as the middle.
Does a clean set mean the music will be boring?
No. Most current pop, hip-hop and dance hits have an official clean or radio edit, and clean, well-edited current music gets a gym moving just as hard as the unedited version would.
Yes. A song can be free of profanity and still not belong at a sixth grade dance because of what it is about. Our DJs listen for subject matter as well as language and judge what fits the age group.
Do you DJ middle school dances as well as high school proms?
Yes. We ask for the grade levels and age range in advance and pull from a library of pre-screened edits organized by grade band, because what suits a junior prom may not be right for a fifth grade end-of-year dance.
How do you handle a request you do not recognize?
It gets checked before it plays, not after a complaint comes in. We also agree on a staff contact or chaperone lead who can flag or veto a song in real time without stopping the music.
Can the student council help plan the music?
Yes. Many high schools involve a student government or dance committee, and their wish list reflects what the student body wants to hear. Every requested song still goes through the same content screening before we commit to playing it.
Our school has rules on dance styles. Can the DJ help?
Enforcing behavior on the floor belongs to staff and chaperones, but music choice and pacing support it. Fast, group-oriented songs and line dances keep attention on a shared activity, and when a school raises the concern in advance we lean on those formats all night.
What do you need from the school before the dance?
Grade levels and age range, any school or district content policy in writing, a staff contact who will be there that night, the theme and dress code, student council requests, your curfew and lights-up procedure, and any concerns from past dances.
Will the DJ work with our chaperones?
Yes. Our DJs treat chaperones and administrators as teammates: staying visible and approachable, checking in during the night, and adjusting volume, tempo or content right away when a staff member raises a concern.
Can we add a photo booth or lighting?
Yes. Print and digital photo booths with custom templates are a natural fit for school nights, and dance floor lighting and uplighting can carry the school colors or the theme through the room. Our staff handles setup, operation and teardown.
