What a party motivator does all night

Solender Events

A motivator is not the DJ and not the MC. The DJ is behind the booth watching sound levels and song selection. The motivator is on the floor, next to your guests, for the entire reception.

Kids do not respond to a voice on a microphone from across the room the way they respond to someone standing next to them, clapping and pulling them in. That presence is what fills a dance floor.

Jared Rosen is award winning in the DMV area for a reason. He takes the time to carefully curate the party of your dreams and vision and he comes through. As an MC he knows the audience and tailors the night. Epic is so organized from point of hire through to the party. We used a planning portal to go over timeline, song choices, entrance plans, game plans - basically he thinks of everything you need and plans for it with Zoom meetings as well. He is also super responsive on email. The night of the party itself could not have been better. Jared brought the energy as well as two motivators that everyone is still talking about. We had the time of our lives in large part because of Jared and Epic's hard work, skills and ability to read the room. Would give more than 5 stars if we could!

I hired Jared and Epic events for my 13 year old's party this weekend. They are awesome! Awesome! They so surpassed my already high expectations. I don't recall being at a party that had both an MC and DJ, let alone "Motivator/Dancers" but I get it now! Jared did a timeline for the party, was our DJ and ran games and was terrific from our first call to the end of the party. Ricky (the MC) is a Rock Star, all the adults were in awe of his talent, the dancers/motivators were great, the photo booth was a hit. The kids and adults all had a great time. How many dancers do we need?
A good rule is one motivator per forty to fifty guests on the dance floor, and we will size it with you.
Are they only for mitzvahs?
No. Corporate parties, sweet sixteens, quinces and weddings all use them.
Do they work with our DJ?
They work as one unit with our DJ and MC, with the game and dance plan set in advance.
What does a party motivator do?
A motivator is on the dance floor with your guests for the whole reception: running games, teaching simple choreography, pulling reluctant kids off the wall and keeping momentum between songs. It is a separate role from the DJ and the MC, though on smaller parties one person sometimes covers two.

How many motivators does a bar or bat mitzvah need?
Mitzvahs need closer coverage, because the motivators stay on the floor with the kids all night. As a rough guide: two motivators for under 40 kids, three for 40 to 70, and four for 70 to 100 or more. Room size matters as much as the guest count, so a sprawling ballroom needs more coverage than a tighter room.

How do you get shy kids onto the dance floor?
The first fifteen minutes set the tone. The team opens with an entrance activity or an icebreaker that does not need dancing yet, then a quick, teachable group dance that lowers the social risk of joining in. Shy kids are brought in without being singled out.
What games do the motivators run?
Coke and Pepsi, freeze dance, limbo, dance-offs, prop games and trivia about the guest of honor, among others. Each one is quick to explain and ends while it is still fun.
